Surprise raid in Varanasi Central Jail

Varanasi, May 28 (UNI) A surprise raid was conducted in the Central Jail here today with intensive checks on the four barracks housing dreaded criminals and terrorists.

Acting on the directive of District Magistrate Beena Kumari Meena, a team of police and administrative officials led by Additional District Magistrate (City) Indra Vikram Singh and Police Superintendent (Rural) L K Singh conducted surprise checks at the Central Jail.

However, no incriminating material was found during the three hour intensive check.

Four barracks of the jail housing terrorists and dreaded criminals remained the prime focus of the raid, official sources said.
