Six dead in mishap

Nashik, May 28 (UNI) Six persons were killed and eight others injured in a jeep-van collision on the Dindori-Nashik road yesterday, police today said.

The accident occurred when the jeep, on way to Nashik from Dindori, collided head-on with the oncoming van near Hotel Raj Park.

Three persons died on the spot, while a woman succumbed to injuries on way to hospital, and two died in the hospital. Among the dead was the van driver.

Police have identified the deceased as Jitendra Popatrao Khairnar, the van driver, a resident of Phule Nagar here, Pushpa Prakash Sen (45), Chandabai Maniklal Bed (65), Pankaj Kantilal Chhajed, baby Ayesha Gulab Sheikh Pathan and Sunita Nemichand Lodha.

Of the six, Khairnar, Sen and Bed died on the spot, while the others succumbed to injuries at the hospital, police said, adding that all the injured have been shifted to civil hospital here.
