Shoot-at-sight orders for civic election in Patna

Patna, May 28 (UNI) Elaborate security arrangements have been made and shoot-at-sight orders issued for civic elections to 72 wards of Patna Municipal Corporation, slated for tomorrow.

Inspector General( headquarters) Anil Sinha said here today that foolproof security arrangements had been made and the border of the state capital had been sealed in view of the elections.

''Patna corporation area had been divided into nine zones and 49 sectors in view of the elections,'' he said adding police personnel had been deployed for patrolling on motor boats on the Ganges to check the movement of troublemongers from across the river.

''Nearly 7000 security personnel had been deployed to man the polling 1148 booths to ensure the fair polling.'' Mr Sinha said.

Sources at the election office said that 1.88 lakh voters would decide the fate of 844 candidates.
