Ruling JD(U) MLA surrenders before court

Patna, May 28 (UNI) Ruling JD(U) MLA Anant Singh today surrendered before the court of Patna Chief Judicial Magistrate Sushma Sinha in connection with an attempt-to-murder case and for using illegal firearms, official sources informed.

CJM Sinha later released the MLA, from Mokamah Assembly segment, on bail following a prayer made by his counsel in the light of the anticipatory bail granted to him earlier by the District and Sessions Judge.

Mr Singh furnished a bail bond of Rs 10,000 with two sureties of the like amount on the basis of anticipatory bail order.

According to the prosecution, six people were injured during a shootout between the supporters of Mr Singh and LJP MP Surajbhan Singh when a railway tender was being floated at Mahendru Ghat under Pirbahore police station in 2000.
