Guna, MP, May 28 (UNI) About five dozen persons -- from four villages in this district -- were hospitalised after suffering diarrhoea in the wake of utilising allegedly contaminated water from handpumps.

This district's Chief Medical Officer-in-charge Ramveer Singh Raghuvanshi visited Bhulay, Sakatpur, Aamalya and Chetakhedi villages with a medical team after information was received three days back, Health Department sources said. The victims were taken to primary health centres at Ruthiyai and Raghogarh while a few serious cases were rushed to the District Hospital.

''The situation is under control and most villagers have been discharged,'' Dr Raghuvanshi claimed. Fish died after a local river around the villages almost dried up and reports said that domesticated animals were also found dead at some places.
