MP Govt itroduces awards for forest personnel

Bhopal, May 28 (UNI) The Madhya Pradesh Government has decided to introduce state-level awards for forest personnel in order to encourage wildlife protection and management.

The decision to introduce the awards from 2008 was taken during a review meeting concerning forest policy held at the Mantralaya here recently. The decision was taken on the initiative of the Forest Minister Himmat Kothari, an official release said here. The awards would be provided to forest personnel -- from forest guard to deputy forest conservator level -- on the basis of their outstanding contribution on the occasion of the wildlife week.

The awards would be given along with the Amrita Devi awards next year.

Under the scheme, forest personnel would be awarded in three different categories in the field of forest protection and management.

This include an award of Rs 50,000 for assistant forest conservator to deputy forest conservator level personnel, an award of Rs 50,000 to forest ranger level personnel and four awards of Rs 50,000 each to deputy ranger, forester and forest guard level personnel, the release added.
