Monsoon sets over Kerala
Pune, May 28 (UNI) The south-west monsoon hit Kerala this morning, in advance, assuring a normal monsoon, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) said.
Weather Forecasting Deputy Director General(Meteorology) A B Majumdar told mediapersons today that the IMD had forecast early arrival of monsoon between May 24-28. The normal date is June 1.
''Kerala had heavy rains for the past two days, our model had an error of three days... that is within that range'', he said.
When asked about the time that monsoon would advance to Maharashtra, Mr Majumdar said that in a normal situation, the monsoon reaches within seven to eight days. However, it is difficult to predict whether it would be less or more by a day or a couple of days.
