LIC targets five-lakh new policy holders in south zone

Chennai, May 28 (UNI) Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) South Zone (SZ) has set itslef a target of selling more than five lakh policies to the tune of Rs 8000 crore during the current fiscal, and has chalked out new strategies to realise the objective.

Talking to newspersons here today, LIC Zonal Manager B Manivanan said "we have set ourselves an ambitious target of selling about 5,10,000 policies in the zone during this fiscal to the tune of Rs 8020 crore," and added apart from this, LIC has also indentified 80 branches to function as satellite centres.

More satellite offices will be opened during the current year in the zone at various places, for the convenience of the policy holders.

He pointed out that out of 261 branches in the zone, 164 branches have achieved the set targets on all counts. This was a record for the zone.

Mr Manivanan said LIC policy holders could also remit their premimum through various UTI bank, adding this facility would be introduced in other banks also during the current fiscal.

According to the statistics given by Mr Manivannan, South Zone has sold 47,33,715 new policies, achieving the distiction of being the only zone in the country to have achieved the target on all counts for the second year in succession.
