Karunanidhi loses cool on Azhagiri issue
New Delhi, May 28: Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and DMK chief M Karunanidhi today lost his cool on his arrival at the airport here and shouted at a reporter of Jaya TV, identified with AIADMK chief J Jayalalithaa, who had asked him a question on the reported involvement of his son, M K Azhagiri, in the recent violence in Madurai.
''Who said that (Azhagiri was involved). It is you'' who were a suspect, Mr Karunanidhi yelled at the reporter, who wanted to know why the state government was not taking any action against Mr Azhagiri for the violence in which three innocent people were killed.
The violence had erupted after a Tamil newspaper had published earlier this month the results of its survey on the popularity of central ministers from the state. According to the survey, the then Communications Minister Dayanidhi Maran, grand nephew of Mr Karunanidhi, was the most popular minister.
The resulting family fued had resulted in the resignation of Mr Maran from the Cabinet.
The Tamil Nadu Chief Minister is here to hold discussions with central leaders on the Presidential poll and attend tomorrow's National Development Council (NDC), the highest policy making body of the country.
