IAF briefs Governor on EAC role in NE region

Shillong, May 28 (UNI) Meghalaya Governor B L Joshi today made a brief visit to the headquarters of the Eastern Air Command at Upper Shillong here.

Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Eastern Air Command Air Marshal P K Barbora and Air Commodore M P S Gill made a detailed presentation of the multi-facted role and responsibilities of Eastern Air Command.

They made specific references to Air maintenance at the far reaches of Arunachal Pradesh and inhospitable hilly terrain of Tripura and Mizoram in the south adjacent to Myanmar border as well as high degree of operational preparedness to face any aerial threat and challenges in future.

The Governor acknowledged and appreciated the vital role played by the Indian Air Force in this land-locked region and praised the uniqueness and beauty of the Eastern Air Command Headquaters building.
