History sheeter ecapes from police custody

Sultanpur/Jaunpur, May 28 (UNI) A history-sheeter escaped from police custody, when he was brought for a hearing at a local court in Jaunpur district today.

Santosh Singh of Badlapur area, who was detained in Sultanpur district jail, was brought to Jaunpur for an hearing in a murder case, police said.

While returning, the jeep was intercepted by two miscreants in Aaspur Devsara area. Threatening the police, the miscreants snatched the rifles and escaped with Santosh.

Meanwhile, Police Superintendent, Sultanpur Ajay Kumar Mishra said the three constables, Santosh Kumar Singh, Surya Pratap Chaudhary and Muneshvar Nath Mishra have been suspended for negligence of duty.

At least 22 cases of murder, loot and smuggling were pending against the hardened criminal. He was sentenced to life imprisonment in the murder case of one Vijay Kumar Singh.

A search was on to nab the accused.
