High tech powerloom cluster gets nod

Bangalore, May 28 (UNI) The single window agency of Karnataka Government has cleared a Rs 40 crore project for setting up high technology power looms using imported machinery in Anekal Taluk of Bangalore District.

To benefit mainly the weaving community, the unit to come up in a 60-acre land, would provide employment to around 3,000 people, Mr T V Maruti, one of the promoters and Chairman of the Silk Export Promotion Council of India, told newsmen here today.

He said similar investment would be made in setting up an integrated textile weaving park in Doddaballapur to set up 150 high tech looms. Each machinery was expected to cost around Rs 12 lakh.
