Heavy rains to lash Southern states

Pune, May 28 (UNI) Heavy to very heavy rain are likely to occur at most places in coastal Karnataka, Kerala and Lakshadweep.

Rain or thundershowers are likely to occur at many places in Konkan, Goa and south interior Karnataka.

They are also likely to occur at a few places in Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, West Bengal, Sikkim, Madhya Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, north interior Karnataka and Andaman and Nicobar Islands.

Rain or thundershowers are also likely to occur at isolated places in Orissa, Jharkhand, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Uttaranchal, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh, Gujarat, Marathwada and Andhra Pradesh.

Dry weather will prevail over the Haryana and Rajasthan.

The south-west monsoon has set in over Kerala. It has advanced over the entier south Arabain Sea, most parts of Kerala, some parts of south-west bay and in some more parts of south-east bay. Also, conditions are favourable for its further advance into some parts of coastal and south interior Karnataka and of Tamil Nadu during next 48 hours.

Heat wave conditions prevailed at isolated places in Jharkhand.

Day tempratures were appreciably above normal in some parts of Saurashtra, Kutch, Konkan, Telangana and of south interior Karnataka. They were above normal in some parts of Gangetic West Bengal, Orissa, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, coastal Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, coastal Karnataka and in remaining parts of Jharkhand.

The temperatures were markedly below normal in west Uttar Pradesh, Uttaranchal and Punjab. They were appreciably below normal in Haryana and in some parts of Assam and Meghalaya. They were below normal in Rajasthan, Rayalseema and north interior Karnataka and were normal over the rest of the country.

Heavy rains had occured at most places in Kerala.

Very light rain had occurred at isolated places in Uttaranchal, Jammu and Kashmir, Rajasthan and Madhya Maharashtra.

Rain or thundershowers had occurred at many places in Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripra, West Bengal, Sikkim and Lakshadweep. They also occurred at a few places in Assam, Meghalaya, coastal and south interior Karnataka and Andaman and Nicobar Islands.

They also occurred at isolated places in Orissa, Bihar, east Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Konkan, Goa and Tamil Nadu.

Dry weather prevailed over Arunachal Pradesh, Jharkhand, west Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Gujrat, Marathwada, Andhra Pradesh and north interior Karnataka.
