Haryana seeks extended deployment of forces
Fatehabad, May 28 (UNI) The Haryana government has urged the Centre to extend the deployment of paramilitary forces in Haryana till June 10, Director General of Police Ranjiv Singh Dalal said today.
The paramilitary forces were deployed in the state in the wake of the strife between the Dera Sacha Sauda and the Sikh organisations over the alleged dressing up of Dera chief as Guru Gobind Singh. The Centre had earlier ordered the deployment in the state till May 31.
The DGP, who was camping at Sirsa for the last two days, said the state government was hopeful that the crisis would be resolved after the apology which came from the Dera yesterday.
He however added that the state police was fully prepared to meet any eventuality and the law and order situation in the state would not be allowed to deteriorate at any cost.
Meanwhile, Mr Dalal expressed concern over the illicit trafficking of poppy husk from Rajasthan and said the state police would soon talk to the its Rajasthan counterpart on the issue.
