Economic blockade on NH continues in Manipur

Imphal, May 28 (UNI) Life here continued to remain affected for the fourth day today following the indefinite economic blockade called by All Tribal Students' Union Manipur (ATSUM) from May 25 on the two National Highways--NH 39 and 53.

Vehicles were taken outside Manipur under heavy escort today.

The escort team will bring back vehicles at the border areas towards Imphal, official sources said.

The ATSUM was demanding extension of terms of teachers on contract basis at hilly areas. It also demanded proper reservation policy in the state government and Manipur University.
