New Delhi, May 28 (UNI) The Delhi Akali Dal, headed by Paramjit Singh Sarna, today charged Dera Sacha Sauda Chief with 'playing with Sikh sentiments by resorting to ''gimmicks''.

He termed the ''so-called apology'' tendered to tenth Sikh guru, as a cruel joke on the community whose sentiments had been injured by his act of 'blasphemy'.

''The Dera Chief's is attempting to circumvent the real issue that he had hurt the susceptibility of the Sikh community and acting smart by seeking apology from the Sikh Guru,'' Mr Sarna told mediapersons here today.

Recently when the Pope had apologised to the Muslim community for his ''uncharitable comment'' with regard to Islamists, he never insisted on seeking apology from the Prophet, Mr Sarna added.

''Such tricks on the part of the Dera Chief will not work. He should be put behind the bars for his act of sacrilege and his 'deras' be closed for bringing about a lasting peace in Punjab,'' Mr Sarna said.
