Consolation win for BJP in U P assembly repoll

New Delhi, May 28 (UNI) After the big rout for the BJP in the UP assembly, Elections, victory in the repolling to the Khaga constituency in Fatehpur district of the state has come as a consolation to the party.

BJP spokesman Prakash Javadekar said the wresting of the seat from the BSP, after the Mayawati-led party had won an absdtate majority, shows that ''there is 'nothing final in politics''.

The whole Uttar Pradesh Cabinet had decended in the constituency to campaign and yet was pushed to the third place, he said. The repolling was necessasitated because of the death of Congress nominee during the election process and Congress had nominated widow of deceased candidate for the repolling.

With this the total number of BJP MLAs in the 403 Assembly UP assembly will became 50.
