Centre bewares Rajasthan of Naxalite problem

Jaipur, May 28 (UNI) Union Minister of State for Home Sriprakash Jaiswal today warned Rajasthan Government of a possible naxalite strike in the state.

However, Mr Jaiswal expressed general sense of satisfaction over improvement in situation in the naxal hit regions of Andhra Pradesh, West Bengal and Orissa.

Talking to reporters here today Mr Jaiswal said that his ministry had feed back that groups of naxal activists were holding meetings in some parts of Rajasthan and were trying to mislead the people.

He said that in routine course of procedure the Ministry had passed the feed back to the state government.

He said that it was the time when a concerned state government should take note of the situation and resort to remedial measures.

Mr Jaiswal said that land reforms in tribal and other backward areas, schemes for employment to poor youths and other local development programmes should be taken up appropriately to foil such designs of naxal elements.

He said that in Andhra Pradesh the naxal violence had been brought considerably under control where as states like West Bengal and Orissa also witnessed decline in the incidents.

However, the situation in Chhattishgarh continued to be grim.

Besides the situation was also not satisfactory in other infested states of Bihar and Jharkhand.

Reiterating the Centre's resolve for extending all help to the violence infested states Mr Jaiswal said that the Centre would discharge its duties appropriately.

He said that all necessary assistance was being provided to needy states to deal with the situation.
