BMC chief to decide on Jhunka Bhakaar centres

Mumbai, May 28 (UNI) The Standing Committee of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has decided to send a proposal over Junka Bhakar to the civic chief.

The proposal brought up by Shiv Sena councillors in the House seeking that the Junka Bhakar centres be allowed to run on civic land by giving them on lease or monthly basis, has been sent to BMC Commissioner Jairaj Pathak to decide on the same.

Standing committee member and Shiv Sena corporator Mangesh Satamkar said, ''As a rule the proposal has been sent to the Commissioner and he will take the decision regarding the same. We are hopeful that there will a positive response from the Commissioner.'' The Commissioner's reply is expected on June 5 when the next meeting is scheduled.

The Maharashtra government had decided a few week back to abolish Junka Bhakar centres started by Shiv Sena-BJP government all over the State.

The BMC, ruled by Shiv Sena-BJP, had decided to continue the centres that are on BMC land by giving them the land on a lease or a monthly rent so that their livelihood is not affected.

The decision on the same will be taken after the Commissioner's reply.
