Bharati Shipyard secures order from German Co

New Delhi, May 28: Bharati Shipyard Ltd today said it has bagged an order worth Rs 418 crore from Germany-based Man Ferrostaal AG for supply of latest generation Platform Supply Vessles (PSVs).

The company will deliver the vessels in June 2009 and Febraury 2010 and also carry out the detailed engineering for the vessels in its in-house design centre, a statement said.

The vessels are 105 m in length and are fitted with two sets of Voith cycloidal Propeller Units at the stern powered by electrical prime mover for diesel Electric Propulsion.

For the first time such a latest generation PSVs with Voith Cycloidal Propeller Units is being made in Asia. Till date, there are only three such vessels in operation worldwide.

Man Ferrostaal, is an industrial service provider forming part of the Man group having presence in more than 60 countries.

The total order book of the company including the above orders stood at Rs 3,554 crore comprising of 41 vessels.
