48 people suffer from diarrhoea

Gulbarga, May 28 (UNI) More than 150 people were taken ill after drinking contaminated water from an abandoned open well at Madabul village in this district of Karnataka.

Official sources told UNI that since there was no power supply in the village for the last two days, the villagers did not get water from public taps. Yesterday, they had drawn water from a nearby abandoned open well, being used for washing clothes and cattle, and consumed it. Immediately, they developed vomiting and diarrhoea, she added.

Hospital sources said that all the victims were out of danger.
