Mumbai, May 28 (UNI) Over a century old Tansa west pipeline burst today on the Vikhroli-Jogeshwari Link Road near Powai, a prominent Mumbai suburb, causing a 15 per cent water cut in and around the area.

The 1,450 mm diameter pipeline burst because it was old and rusty, a BMC official said. A few days back Tansa east pipeline had burst.

The 15 per cent cut will affect water supply in K-East, H-East, G-South, G-North and A, C and D wards.

Apart from these wards, there will be water cut in parts of E and B wards tomorrow.

The work of repairing the pipeline is going on and it is expected to be fixed by tomorrow evening.

The pipeline is above the road level and there are no encroachments in and around the place.
