11 states confirm participation
Bangalore, May 28 (UNI) Eleven states have confirmed their participation in the three-day mega Bio-tech event 'Bangalore Bio-2007' scheduled to be held here from June 7.
The States which have confirmed their participation include Gujarat, Chattisgarh, Himachal Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Orissa, Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Kerala, Jharkhand and Haryana.
Key decision makers in the government are part of the delegation from each of the states, according to a release here today.
Karnataka Department of IT, BT and Science Technology Secretary M N Vidyashankar said it was very encouraging to see large participation of states at the flagship event. Bangalore Bio India dimension has never been so obvious, with the emergence of 11 states participating from across the country.
''We are seeing dramatic growth in interest from states like Orissa, Chattisgarh and Jharkhand to be part of the dynamic Indian Biotech industry'', he added.
''Bangalore Bio 2007 demonstrates how Indian states are now keen to develop as a biotech destination. They should use this platform to step up to attract investment into their states''' he added.
The event is promoted by the Government of Karnataka and organised by the Vision Group on Biotechnology.
''Bangalore Bio'' has emerged as the undisputed unique platform for the Biotech Fraternity in bringing together national and international participation from the biotechnology, pharmaceutical and financial sectors, offering a dynamic platform to showcase innovations in products and services, transform concepts into markets, explore investment and partnering opportunities and forge new alliances.
The event, Bangalore Bio 2007, now in its seventh year, will be simultaneously a conference, a Business forum and a Trade Exhibition for the entire Biotech and allied industries Mr Vidyashankar added.
