VS, Pinarayi concur with party's decision
Thiruvananthapuram, May 27 (UNI) A day after their suspension from the CPI(M) Polit Bureau, while Kerala Chief Minister V S Achuthanandan today 'wholeheartedly' accepted the 'corrective step' taken by the party, the CPI(M) state secretary Pinarayi Vijayan said it was a clear signal that no one could deviate from the party lines.
Talking to newspersons on the sidelines of a function here, the Chief Minister said he accepted the party's decision and admitted that it was a mistake to publicise their differences through the media.
''It is natural that parents pull up children when they do something wrong. Similarly, I wholeheartedly accept the corrective step taken by the party,'' he said.
Stating that ups and downs were part of public life, Mr Achuthanandan said ''lapses and mistakes are bound to happen occasionally when we do something good for society and the people.'' Mr Vijayan, while addressing a public meeting in connection with the inauguration of the E K Nayanar memorial building at Kasaragod, said though the party's decision was painful for a person like him who had always worked on the lines of the party, the decision would boost the image of the party.
The decision would certainly help the party in Kerala.
''In a party like ours, everyone should work as per the party discipline. All of them should accept this fact and there would not be any compromise on that,'' he said adding the party's action was a clear signal that it would not allow anyone to deviate from the party's organisational structure.
The Polit Bureau suspended veteran leaders- Mr Achuthanandan and Pinarayi Vijayan-from the party's highest policy-making body yesterday, after their public spat in violation of party norms.
