Virgin Comics, Studio 18 to develop films in India
New Delhi, May 27 (UNI) Richard Branson-owned Virgin Comics and Studio 18, part of Network 18 Group, has inked a deal to develop a host of graphic novels to be made into films for Indian as well as global audiences.
Virgin Comics and Studio 18 will jointly develop content in the 'teen horror' genre. The collaboration will initially develop graphic novels and then make them into films, a statement said.
Teen horror and entertainment content themed around the genre has a considerable market abroad.
''Hollywood has for long been involved with this popular genre of teen horror stories. We, at Virgin Comics, want to be the first to lead Bollywood into exploring this genre,''animationxpress.com quoted Virgin Comics President Suresh Seetharaman as saying.
As part of the deal, ten horror stories would be developed into films.
Network 18 is the parent company of Television 18 and Global Broadcast News, which have joint ventures with CNBC and Time Warner.
UNI
