Ukraine parliament poll on September 30-president

KIEV, May 27 (Reuters) Ukraine is to hold an early parliamentary election on September 30, President Viktor Yushchenko said today.

Yushchenko, who issued two decrees last month dissolving parliament and calling an election, announced the date to reporters after negotiations at his office with Prime Minister Viktor Yanukovich that extended well past midnight.

The president said parliament would this week consider legislation required to hold the poll.

A struggle between the two leaders over a division of powers has plunged the ex-Soviet state into a prolonged crisis.

Yanukovich, the president's arch rival from the ''Orange Revolution'' mass protests of 2004, had resisted the decrees but eventually agreed to an election. The two men remained at odds for some time over a date.
