Tributes paid to Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru
New Delhi, May 27: The nation today paid rich tributes to its first Prime Minister Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru on the occasion of his 43rd death anniversary.
Political leaders made a beeline to Shanti Van, the memorial to the departed leader, situated on the banks of river Yamuna.
Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, Vice-President Bhairon Singh Shekhawat, Home Minister Shivraj Patil, Congress President Sonia Gandhi were among those who paid floral tributes at the memorial where an all-religion prayer was organised.
Several programmes were organised across the country to remember Nehru.
