Tributes paid to Nehru
New Delhi, May 27 (UNI) The nation today paid rich tributes to its first Prime Minister Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru on the occasion of his 43rd death anniversary.
Political leaders made a beeline to Shanti Van, the memorial to the departed leader, situated on the banks of river Yamuna.
Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, Vice-President Bhairon Singh Shekhawat, Home Minister Shivraj Patil, Congress President Sonia Gandhi were among those who paid floral tributes at the memorial where an all-religion prayer was organised.
Several programmes were organised across the country to remember Nehru.
