Three killed in mishap near Bhandara

Nagpur, May 27 (UNI) Three persons, including two women and a child, were killed on the spot and two others injured when a van knocked them down in Bhandara district today.

According to the police, the mishap occurred near village Jamb in the district this afternoon when the van went out of control and hit a group of pedestrians returning home after attending a wedding feast in nearby Dhop village.

The impact killed three of the pedestrians, identified as Jayawanta Tekam (26), Dindubai Masram (40) and Yogesh Masram, on the spot, and injured Shevant Gedam and Raju Gedam.

The two have been admitted to a nearby hospital, the police said.

The driver of the vehicle abandoned the van and fled from the spot, the police added.
