Sweltering heat conditions prevail

Kolkata, May 27 (UNI) Scoring heat kept the city residents indoors as heatwave-like conditions continued to prevail in the city and its suburbs today.

People in the city expected smart showers following some cool breeze around mid night. However, much to their disappointment there was no rainfall.

Met office recorded a maximum temperature of 35.2 degrees Celsius, while the minimum was at 29.5 degrees Celsius, two degrees above normal.

The maximum relative humidity was recorded at 84 per cent and the minimum at 58 per cent.

Met officials predicted partly cloudy sky, with possibility of rainfall or thundery development towards the night.

The temperature in the next 24 hours is expected to be around 36 degrees Celsius.
