Puducherry: Nehru remembered

Puducherry, May 27: Floral tributes were paid to the country's first prime minister, Pandit Jawharlal Nehru, on his 43rd death anniversary here today.

Puducherry Chief Minister N Rangasamy, Agriculture Minister V Vaithilingam and Government Whip M Kandasamy were among those who garlanded Mr Nehru's statue at the Goubert Avenue.

Pradesh Congress Committee President P Shanmugham and other congress functionaries also garlanded the statue.

Earlier, floral tributes were paid to a decorated portrait of the leader at the PCC office here in which Mr Rangasamy also participated.

The Puducherry Munnetra Congress also paid floral tributes to the portriat of Mr Nehru at the party office.
