Perfumed stamps to be released soon: PMG

Kolkata, May 27(UNI) A Good news for philately lovers-the Department of Post will this year release a wide range of stamps, including the scented ones.

Speaking at the 50th celebration of the Lions Club here today, Post Master General of Kolkata Manoj Kumar said ''We will release a series of stamps on the bridges of India. This set will include two stamps from Bengal on Howrah bridge and Vidyasagar Setu.'' The next series would focus on the architects of the country, with special stamps on Railways.

The most interesting series would be the perfumed stamps with hues of jasmine, rose and sandalwood. ''The perfumed stamps will be released in the course of this year,'' he said.

''We have plans to launch a stamp on emminent film director Ritwik Ghatak, which will be released this year,'' he said.

On the occasion, a special cover was released by the postal department. The envelope, released by the Philatelic department of the India Post, has emblem of the Lions Club.

The postal department had released a series of stamps on Lord Buddha on the occasion of Buddha jayanti.
