One killed; Lashkar militant arrested in Kashmir

Srinagar, May 27 (UNI) One person was killed while security forces apprehended a militant of the banned Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) across the Kashmir valley today, police said.

They said suspected militants shot at and wounded 32-year-old Ali Mohammad Khan at Hardoo-Hangel in Yaripora area of Kulgam district in south Kashmir.

Khan was rushed to the SMHS hospital here where he succumbed to injuries. Police have registered a case in this regard and taken up investigations.

Police apprehended Ghulam Qadir Mir, a resident of Waddar Bala, from Handwara area in Kupwara district of north Kashmir when he was dispatching a consignment to Lashkar militants. Four UBGL grenades were also seized from his possession.

Police said Mir was a close associate of several Lashkar militants operating in Rajwar area of the district.
