Media has ignored 'non-shinning' India:Dua
Shimla, May27 (UNI) Editor-in-Chief of The Tribune H K Dua today asked mediapersons to cover 'non-shinning' India and the common man whose problems are rarely highlighted.
He was addressing a two day National Seminar on 'Contemporary Issues in Mass Communication' organized by Department of Journalism of Himachal Pradesh University here.
He said that mediapersons should care of the common man who felt ignored. He also pointed to the north east region and the rural areas which received little or no coverage in the media.
Refering to the electronic media, Mr Dua observed that its role lacked responsibility. In this context he refered to the stress that was laid by the electronic media on the Shilpa Shetty-Richard Gere kiss and the Abishaik-Ash marriage.
HP University Vice Chancellor Anil Wilson asked the media to give more time to sensitized people, rather creating sensations.
