Media has ignored 'non-shining' India:Dua

Shimla, May27 (UNI) Editor-in-Chief of The Tribune H K Dua today asked mediapersons to cover 'non-shining' India and the common man whose problems are rarely highlighted.

Addressing a two day National Seminar on 'Contemporary Issues in Mass Communication' organised by the Department of Journalism of Himachal Pradesh University here, he said that mediapersons should care about the common man who felt ignored. He also pointed that the north east region and the rural areas received little to no coverage in the media.

Referring to the electronic media, Mr Dua observed that its role lacked responsibility. In this context he referred to the undue stress that was laid by the electronic media on the Shilpa Shetty-Richard Gere kiss and the Abhi-Ash wedding.

HP University Vice Chancellor Anil Wilson asked the media to sensitise people, rather than creating sensations.
