Lankan woman creates flutter at airport
Chennai, May 27 (UNI) A Sri Lankan woman caused a flutter outside the Anna International Airport here last night shouting she wanted to go back to her homeland, before she was handed over to an NGO after she was found to be mentally deranged.
Airport sources said around 2330 hrs last night, Gunasundari (35), with a bag in her hand, shouted slogans at the departure area outside the airport.
The Q Branch police, dealing in cases involving extremists and terrorists, rushed to the spot and inspected the bag of the woman.
However, it contained only some clothes.
During interrogation, she gave contradictory statements and the officials found she was mentally retarded.
The woman, who spoke in Sri Lankan Tamil, was handed over to Banyan, an NGO.
