New Delhi, May 27 (UNI) The narcotics bureau and crime prevention today claimed to have busted an inter-state gang of drug peddlers by arresting three criminals and recovering 54 kgs of opium worth Rs 2 crore.

The police attributed their success to significant leads from the arrest of another inter-state gang of opium smugglers last month.

The operation had led the police to the network of criminals transporting opium from Rajasthan to Haryana, Punjab and Jammu and Kashmir.

On a tip off about a gang of smugglers coming from Rajasthan to the truck parking in Sanjay Gandhi Transport Nagar, a trap was laid and the car matching the description was intercepted by the Narcotics team. Two persons inside the car were arrested and identified later as Sharafat of Bikaner and Subhash Chander of Udhampur.

The two led the police to their accomplice Ashok of Bikaner.

A search of the car yielded 54 kg of opium.
