India to host Structural Engineers' World Conference
Bangalore, May 27 (UNI) The six-day long Third Structural Engineers World Conference (SEWC) will be held in the city beginning November 2.
India beat a stiff competition from South Korea and United Kingdom to host the quadrennial event at the meeting of the world body, SEWC Inc, held recently in the United states, SEWC Society of India President R Sundaram said here on friday night.
Speaking at the National Launch of the World Congress, he said SEWC brings together Structural Engineers from around the world under one umbrella every four years. This edition of SEWS was dedicated to the ''Art, Science and Practice of Structural Engineering, he added.
Mr Sundaram said this edition of SEWC was organised by the city-based SEWC Society and hosted by Association of Indian Consulting Engineers. ''The Congress provides a unique opportunity for Structural Engineers from all over the world to interact with each other, listen to leading experts, develop fellowship and explore business interests in the global market,'' he added.
A prominent feature of the World Congress was 16 key-note speeches by experts drawn from different parts of the world. More than 200 papers would be presented on the new trends and development in the Construction Industry. Nine parallel sessions by eminent specialists and professionals would be held, Dr C S Vishwanatha, Vice President and Chairman of the Technical Committee said.
A concurrent exhibition, SEWC-IBI-2007 was also being organised in the Palace Grounds here that would exhibit a wide profile of manufacturers and service providers in the Construction Industry.
