EPF board defers decision to July 2
New Delhi, May 27 (UNI) After putting off the decision on interest rate to be paid to its four-crore subscribers several times, the Board of Employees Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) today again deferred its decision to July two.
The EPFO, which met here to discuss the rate of return for fiscal 2006-07, however, did take up other issues in the agenda.
Labour Minister and EPFO chairperson Oscar Fernandes told the members that the decision had been postponed in view of the ''preoccupation'' of the board members.
The Left has been pressing the UPA-led government at the Centre to hike interest rates in view of increasing inflation and rising interest rates.
The meeting is still underway.
