Engine, coaches of Mhow-Hingoli train derails
Khandwa, MP, May 27 (UNI) Several people were injured when the engine and four coaches of the 497 Mhow-Akola passenger train derailed today on a metre line near Khandwa station in Nanded Division of the South Central Railway (SCR), police said.
Traffic was thrown off gear after the incident and further journey of several trains cancelled.
Khandwa Superintendent of Police K D Parashar said the train, which had left Khandwa for its destination, derailed between Mordhad and Gudi early today.
On receiving information, police officials rushed to the spot along with a team of doctors. A few passengers, who received minor injuries, were provided primary treatment.
Meanwhile, no railway official was present to inform about the incident. There was no arrangement for information regarding affected traffic movement at Mhow and Indore stations.
Upen enquiring it was informed that a train, which plied on Ratlam-Akola route, was returning to Khandwa. Likewise, there was no information regarding restoration of rail traffic.
This was the third incident of train accident on Ratlam-Akola route in the recent days. However, the rail department had adopted an apathetic approach in this regard.
An engine had derailed while shunting process was being carried out near Indore station this month. In another incident, the Malwa Express's rack had started running without engine. The railway had ordered inquiry into these incidents.
