Cong will win Hamirpur Lok Sabha byelection: CM
Shimla, May 26 (UNI) Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh today predicted that the Congress would win the Hamirpur Lok Sabha byelection after its success in the Shimla Municipal Corporation (SMC) elections.
Addressing election meetings at Gagret, Nakroh, Daulatpur, Nangal-Janyala, Ambota and Kuthera-Jaswalan in Una district, the Chief Minister said the victory of the Congress in SMC elections had re-affirmed the public faith in the present government.
He said his government had strengthened the economy of the state and its people and had provide all basic amenities and even raised the standard of life.
He said that his government had laid great stress on improving the basic infrastructure facilities in the important sectors like education and health and had ensured these facilities to the people living in the far-flung areas of the state.
He said there had been extensive industrialization in the state during the last four years and thousands of unemployed people had been provided employment opportunities. He said Una district had also witnessed widespread development during last four years, he said.
Lambasting at BJP, the Chief Minister said the party always used the plank of regionalism and casteism to achieve their vested political interests.
He pointed pointed out that the Hamirpur byelection was being held as former BJP MP Suresh Chandel whow represented the constituency was was caught taking a bribe for asking questions in Parliament.
