Calm in Guwahati, bandh tomorrow

Guwahati, May 27 (UNI) Guwahati is limping back to normalcy today after yesterday's bomb blast but a bandh call has been given by the BJP, AGP and the traders separately against the violence as well as the government's failure to control it.

The blast site of Athgaon remained deserted while some of the damaged windows off shops were being repaired. The security has been intensified in the whole Fancy Bazar area, which saw five bomb blasts in past two months.

Meanwhile, the All Asom Students Union (AASU) observed a dharna during the day against the violence. AASU adviser Dr Samujjal Kr Bhattacharrya said that they would never accept any kind of violence.

''Under no circumstance the killing of innocent person would be tolerated. There is complete lawlessness and failure of the government'' he said. He also came down heavily on ULFA saying the killing of innocent persons would not bear fruit to any ''revolution.'' Meanwhile, the AGP and BJP have separately called for Guwahati bandh tomorrow. The Kamrup Chamber of Commerce have also called for trade bandh tomorrow.

The police administration have brought in more para military forces to the city as anti-ULFA sentiment has been mounting. There was a protest procession by the traders at Fancy Bazar yesterday and more protests are expected tomorrow.
