ASI begins renovation work at Big Temple
Thanjavur, May 27 (UNI) The Archeological Survey of India (ASI) has taken up renovation works at the historical Big Temple here at a cost of Rs 25 lakh.
The ASI had taken up repair works of the damaged ceiling of the northern corridor to a length of 26 metres. The ASI had sought technical support and opinion from the IIT for carrying out repair following a crack found in the Rajarajam gopuram.
The ASI would also take up repair work of the main compound walls in three places and it would be completed in next two to three months, ASI sources here said.
