4 killed, 6 seriously hurt as van hits lorry

Tiruvallur, Tamil Nadu, May 27 (UNI) Four people, including a child, were killed on the spot and six seriously injured when the van in which they were travelling hit a lorry at Tachur Joint Road on the GNT Road near here yesterday.

Police said Srinivasan (38) and his family members were proceeding to the airport in Chennai by the van when the driver hit the rear of a lorry which had applied sudden brakes after commercial tax inspectors stopped the vehicle.

In the impact, four people, including Srinivasan and his mother Neelammal were killed. The injured were admitted to a private hospital.

Srinivasan was supposed to catch a flight to Nigeria where he had secured employment, police added.
