Two electrocuted, several others injured due to short circuit
Jammu, May 26 (UNI) At least two people were electrocuted and several others suffered injuries due to short circuit at Rehni-Rembhal in Udhampur district during a strong windstorm that struck the area.
Sources said the two were electrocuted and several others suffered electric shocks in a bid to avoid damage to their electronic gadgets due to short circuit caused by high velocity winds yesterday night.
The injured were immediately taken to different hospitals.
According to sources, six seriously injured were shifted to district hospital of Udhampur.
During the wind storm, lose distribution wires caught fire creating panic in the entire area. People rushed to their houses to take shelter, while many of them suffered electric shocks while handling gadgets at their respective homes.
The short circuit and voltage fluctuation also damaged several refrigerators, TV sets and other electronic gadgets. After the short circuit, entire area was plunged into darkness, sources added.
Deceased have been identified as Bodh Raj, 26, son of one Shibanand and Sumit Sharma,20, son of one Dev Raj, both residents of Basti Kothi Malhar, official sources added.
