Pakistan condemns Israeli atrocities against Palestinians

Islamabad, May 26 (UNI) Pakistan today strongly condemned the recent killings of a number of Palestinians in indiscriminate Israeli attacks on Gaza city.

''These attacks have caused deep anguish in Pakistan,'' Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Tasnim Aslam here said.

She said the arrest of a large number of Palestinian office bearers, including the Education Minister, several parliamentarians and mayors, was a matter of grave concern for her government and people of Pakistan.

''Pakistan deplores violence and arbitrary arrests and actions by the Israeli authorities against Palestinians,'' Ms Aslam said, adding the increased Israeli hostilities had further exacerbated the humanitarian sufferings and economic hardships being faced by the Palestine people.

''Pakistan calls upon all sides to eschew violence and urges the international community to help restore peace in the Palestinian territories to encourage renewed efforts aimed at reviving the West Asia peace process for the resolution of the Palestinian issue,'' she added.
