NATO soldier killed in Afghanistan
Kabul, May 26: A NATO soldier was killed and four wounded in a clash with insurgents in Afghanistan today, the alliance said in a statement.
It did not identify the casualties in the clash in the south of the country. A Canadian NATO soldier was killed yesterday outside the southern city of Kandahar, in a roadside bomb blast.
Violence has surged in recent months in Afghanistan, following a traditional winter lull. Last year was the bloodiest in the country since US-led forces defeated the Taliban government in 2001.
Separately, a suicide bomber on foot attacked a government vehicle in Kandahar killing himself and wounding three policemen, witnesses said.
