Darbhanga, May 26 (UNI) Enraged over the alleged misbehaviour of the police with a senior surgeon, doctors of the Darbhanga Medical College and Hospital(DMCH) today paralysed the emergency services of the hospital demanding action against the errant cops.

Superintendent of DMCH Dr S Sandilya said,'' Policemen manhandled a senior surgeon Dr V S Prasad near Karpuri Chowk, when he was on way to the hospital.'' ''The plea of the police administration that the movement of the private vehicles was restricted due to ongoing polling for the municipal election, was not tenable as Mr Prasad was on way to attend emergency medical services,'' Dr Sandilya maintained.

''Doctors would continue to abstain from the emergency duty of the hospital unless their demand was conceded,'' he warned.

According to the reports, several patients had to be shifted to private nursing homes due to doctors' strike.

Meanwhile, the District Magistrate had deputed ADM (law and order) and Deputy SP to sort out the issue with the agitating doctors and restore the emergency services as soon as possible.
