Pondy: Town bus service affected during strike

Puducherry, May 24: Operation of town bus service from Puducherry to Nattapakkam was affected today as crew of more than 25 buses went on a flash strike today.

They were protesting against the alleged assault on a driver and conductor of a bus by villagers of Karikkalampakkam.

It was alleged that the villagers had allegedly attacked the crew as they did not gave way to a two-wheeler in the village last evening.

The crew lodged a complaint with the Nettapakkam police and a case was registered.

As a protest over the alleged assualt, drivers and conductors of town buses went on a lightning strike this morning, demanding immediate arrest of the attackers. They also staged a demonstration in front of the new bus stand.

After the police intervened the stir was called off.

Police are holding talks with the protestors to find an amicable settlment to the issue.
