Sterlite tech to deploy Broadband, Metro for MTNL

Mumbai, May 24: Sterlite Optical Technologies Ltd has received a contract from MTNL for deployment of a Broadband&Metro Ethernet network in Delhi&Mumbai.

The network, once completed, would be capable of handling about half a million broadband connections in these cities. The Company was awarded this contract amongst competition from global players.

The project is valued at Rs 169 crore and would be completed during FY 2007-08 and FY 2008-09, the Company informed BSE.

In FY 2005-06, the Company launched its Access Business and has been involved in setting up the MPLS core for MTNL. The Broadband and Ethernet network is an extension of the existing MPLS network.

The Company has streamlined its efforts to design, develop and implement the network well within the required project schedule.
